Megan Stout Sibbel visited the historic Salisbury House and Gardens, built between 1923-1928 by Carl and Edith Weeks. Carl Weeks was a famous cosmetics manufacturer and avid book collector in the early 20th century. The Salisbury House Library, located inside the Salisbury House and Gardens, is a repository of more than 3,000 rare and first edition books dating to the 15th century.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Des Moines, Iowa, from June 22-26 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Mediacom cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments aired on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments aired on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
