William Crawford talked about his book, Florida’s Big Dig: The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, about the history and development of Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. The waterway was created by a private company in the late 19th century and was originally used as a toll-way for commerical purposes. In 1929, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers converted the private toll-way into the modern toll-free Intracoastal Waterway.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from March 19-22 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
