Dr. Francis Collins was among the three witnesses who updated the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative. The initiative, funded through the fiscal year 2016 budget, is a research effort designed to improve treatments for diseases such as cancer and leukemia by tailoring treatment according to an individual’s genetic makeup rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach. close
