Reverend Jesse Jackson introduced the topics of the conference. Referring to the Clinton Administration, he claimed that the conference’s purpose was to ensure “that promises made are promises kept.” Secy. of Labor Robert Reich blamed the current economic problems on the Republican administration of the past twelve years, but offered an optimistic outlook for the future. After Secy. Reich’s speech, he answered questions from the audience.}Other speakers focused on other economic, labor, environmental, and minority issues which they felt that the Clinton Administration must have confronted.
