The daily White House briefing was opened with a presentation by Brett McGurk, special presidential envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISILI*. Following his remarks he took questions from reporters on the recent Syria ceasefire agreement, securing Turkish borders, and combating ISIS in Libya. Then White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded to reporters' questions on a variety of topics, including President Obama’s announcement earlier that day of a plan to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, Supreme Court nominations, and the controversy about Apple declining to unlock a terrorist’s phone.
