House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) joined other House and Senate members in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol to unveil and dedicate a statue of inventor Thomas Edison. Each state is entitled to display two statues of prominent citizens in the Capitol, and Ohio voted in 2006 to replace one of its statues with the Thomas Edison statue. The ceremony featured remarks by Senate and House leaders, Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), and Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH). close
