Gun Violence Prevention A panel of legal experts, gun violence prevention advocates, and public health officials discussed the legal and social outcome of gun violence, including recent police-involved shootings of unarmed African-Americans. Panelists talked about the need for comprehensive gun legislation, racial profiling, use of excessive force on suspects, and mental health concerns and trauma with the use of guns. “Gun Violence, Policing and Trauma” was a congressional briefing sponsored by the Initiative for Studying Gun Violence and Trauma of the University of California Irvine’s School of Law.
