Book TV’s coverage of the 67th annual National Book Awards included the presentation of awards for non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and young people’s literature. Biographer Robert Caro received of the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, and Cave Canem received the Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community. Poets Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady created Cave Canem in 1996 as a writing center for African-American poets. The event was hosted by comedian Larry Wilmore.
