Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) talked to reporters and answered their questions about President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees, a day before Mr. Trump’s inauguration. Senator Schumer said that many of the President-elect’s national security picks, including Homeland Security Secretary Nominee General John Kelly and Defense Secretary Nominee General James Mattis, would be voted on and confirmed on Inauguration Day. He also said that unless the other nominees, including President-elect Trump’s picks to be the Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, and Education secretaries, submitted complete financial disclosures and were subject to full-length confirmation hearings with multiple rounds of questions, Senate Democrats would slow down the confirmation process. close
