Edgar Allen Poe Museum Chris Semtner talked about the Edgar Allan Poe Museum. Established in 1909, the Poe Memorial Association was formed by a group of literary enthusiasts to create a monument to the writer in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. This shrine would be the first monument in the state dedicated to a writer. In 1922, the Poe Museum was opened and houses the largest collection of Poe’s manuscripts, artifacts, and memorabilia.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Richmond, Virginia, from January 21-27 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
