French Ambassador to the U.N. François Delattre and and U.K. Ambassador to the U.N. Matthew John Rycroft addressed reporters at United Nations headquarters in New York City. They expressed their support for boosting sanctions against North Korea, which had launched a ballistic missile the day prior, its second such launch in a week. Their comments came a day ahead of a planned closed-door meeting of the U.N. Security Council on a potential new round of sanctions against North Korea, a meeting called for by the U.K., France, Japan, and the U.S. Ambassador Delattre also called on the U.S. to more seriously pursue political discussions to end the ongoing civil conflict in Syria. close
