The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on the federal permitting process for energy and natural resource infrastructure projects. Witnesses included officials from the Interior Department and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as well as local energy project leaders. They provided recommendations for improving and simplifying the federal permitting process. Also, Democratic members raised concerns about the potential environmental consequences of natural gas and oil development projects. close
