The Illinois House Judiciary Criminal Law Committee held a hearing and voted on a bill, H.B. 4117, to ban firearm modifications like the “bump stocks” that essentially turn semi-automatic firearms into automatic weapons and were used in the Las Vegas mass shooting. NRA lobbyists testified in opposition, saying the bill went too far by banning any modification that makes a semiautomatic firearm fire faster, including common ones used by sports shooters. The bill was approved by committee, but failed in the Illinois House.

The program also includes an interview with Chicago Tribune state government and political reporter Monique Garcia.
