At his weekly briefing, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) repeated his argument that House Democrats were threatening to shut down the government over what he called unrelated issues. Despite Democrats' opposition, Speaker Ryan said he was “confident” a short-term stopgap bill would get approved.
