Former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and George Shultz appeared on Capitol Hill to present their views on the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy and the global challenges facing the nation. They were joined by former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage who served under President George W. Bush. They discussed a range of foreign policy issues including threats from North Korea, Iran, Russia and China, and their concerns about nuclear proliferation and technology’s impact on the battlefield. They also were asked about their views on remedying staffing vacancies at the State Department. They spoke before the Senate Armed Services Committee and paid tribute to its chair John McCain (R-AZ) who was not in attendence. close
