Historian David Blight, director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition presented a talk titled “Frederick Douglass at 200.” Professor Blight discussed Douglass’s life and work as an escaped slave, abolitionist, public speaker, and writer, as well as how we think about him now. The Maryland Historical Society hosted this event to mark the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Douglass. close
