Prior to an Oval Office meeting, President Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in spoke with reporters. President Trump said, “it may not work out for June 12,” the date of his planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but added “there’s a good chance that we’ll have the meeting.” He also talked about his previous-day meeting with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray on whether “spies” were planted in his presidential campaign. He said it would be “a disgrace” if true and that it would be “unprecedented in the history of our country.” President Trump also talked about trade negotiations with China and ZTE, the Chinese telecommunications equipment company that faced severe sanctions from the U.S. for exporting American technology to North Korea and Iran. The president said he revisited the issue at the request of Chinese President Xi and that he envisioned the company receiving a fine and other sanctions. close
