The National League of Cities released its fifth annual “State of the Cities” report. The evaluation features consideration and analysis of issues mayors across the country determine need attention due to their impact on the people of their cities, for good or ill. These issues include affordable housing, education, jobs, race relations, policing, and mental health. Mayor Daniel Rivera (D) of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Mayor Jim Strickland (D) of Memphis, Tennessee, participated in a panel discussion about the report and the issues they were focused on in their cities. close
