The Senate Rules and Administration Committee held a hearing to examine election infrastructure security and preparedness leading up to the 2018 midterm elections. The committee heard from a number of state and local officials about steps they were taking to secure the election process, including testing their infrastructure, creating backup paper ballots, and boosting cybersecurity. An election security expert with the Homeland Security Department also talked about the resources the federal government was providing to state and local officials.
