Efforts to build a National Women’s History Museum in Washington, D.C., have been underway for more than 20 years. It currently exists as an online museum and offers local walking tours focused on women’s history. American History TV visited Alexandria, Virginia, to see Civil War-related sites where women worked as nurses, sold goods to soldiers, and aided communities of newly-freed slaves. close
