Priya Satia, Stanford University history professor, explored the complex relationship between the Quaker Community and gun makers during the British Industrial Revolution. She chronicled the career of Society of Friends member Samuel Galton, a member of the leading gun manufacturing family in Britain. Professor Satia is the author of Empire of Guns: The Violent Making of the Industrial Revolution. The National History Center and Wilson Center in Washington DC co-hosted this event. close
