President Trump spoke with reporters after signing legislation to combat human trafficking. Justice and Homeland Security officials, members of Congress, and others joined him for the signing in the Oval Office. The president told reporters he would declare a national emergency to build a wall along the southern border if he and congressional leaders cannot agree on wall funding and reopening the federal government. He also said “we have tremendous support in the Senate and tremendous support in the House” from Republicans to spend over $5 billion on building the wall. close
