On October 12, 2000, two al-Qaida suicide bombers attacked the Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Cole in Yemen’s Aden harbor, killing 17 sailors and injuring 39. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led a joint investigation into the bombing. Two former NCIS special agents shared their personal experiences working on the USS Cole investigation and how their findings shaped investigations of future terrorist attacks. The National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C., hosted this discussion. close
