U.S. Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham and other government officials testified on the agency’s preparations for the 2020 Census before a House Appropriations subcommittee. Questions focused on concerns of the addition and legality of the citizenship question, the challenge in counting people in hard to reach areas like rural and tribal communities, language barriers and the use of electronic devices. Director Dillingham told members the 2020 Census would be the most innovative census because it will be the first time people will be able to submit responses electronically through the phone and internet. close
