A Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee held a hearing on Russia’s activities in Ukraine, five years after Ukraine’s 2014 political revolution. Witnesses included senior policy fellows, and the former ambassadors to Ukraine and NATO. Topics included Russia’s motivations for dominance in Ukraine, whether Ukraine should become a NATO member, and how President Trump should engage Russian President Putin the next time the two leaders meet. The witnesses also argued that tougher sanctions by the U.S. and Europe against Russia were needed. close
