The House voted to repeal President Trump’s 2017 travel ban on certain countries and to limit the president’s authority to issue new entry bans. Members also approved a Senate amendment to the Great American Outdoors Act, a public lands package that would permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund as well as establish a fund for national parks and public lands maintenance projects. They also debated and passed a bill calling for the removal from the U.S. Capitol statues and busts of those supporting slavery and white supremacy or those who served voluntarily in the Confederacy. Lawmakers also paid tribute to Representative John Lewis (D-GA), who died Friday, July 17, at age 80 from pancreatic cancer. close
