The Food and Drug Administration held a virtual open meeting to discuss Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and whether it should be recommended for emergency use authorization. Members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee heard public comments and testimony from Moderna on its vaccine. During this final portion of the meeting, the committee continued their discussion before voting on whether the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the risks for use on individuals 18 years of age or older. After voting by computer, the result was “a favorable vote,” with most of the members voting for use of the vaccine. close
