When asked about the attack on the U.S. Capitol, he said he was sickened “to see this reality of democracy under assault.” When asked about the potential for President Trump to self-pardon, the former FBI director said he “knows our president is not a genius,” but that if he “pardons himself, he would provoke the Department of Justice almost into being required to prosecute him.” close
