The Russian national newscast featured stories on the Russian Republic and the former Soviet region, in addition to international news, weather, and sports. In Moscow, a nightly curfew was declared and those without proper identification could expect to be detained up to three days. Snipers began shooting at the militia surrounding the White House and eventually turned fire on the crowd injuring many. Translation from Russian to English was by voiceover. close
