The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship held a hearing examining the impact foreign-born physicians have on the U.S. health care system. Testifying during the hearing were two medical professionals: one recent Green Card recipient and an immigration attorney. Both witnesses spoke on the importance of immigration reform and the role immigrant doctors serve in rural and underserved communities. The subcommittee also heard from the co-founder of Doctors Without Jobs, who argued that foreign-born physicians are given priority for hospital residencies and jobs over American-born medical students and doctors. close
