Former Clinton administration Treasury Secretary Larry Summers said that “the Fed was way slow to recognize the gravity of the gathering inflation storm, even though there was substantial evidence of it.” His remarks came as he discussed the U.S. economy with the ]the Washington Post]'s David Ignatius. Addressing high inflation the former treasury secretary said, “I think there needs to be considerable soul-searching at the Fed as to how they missed this as badly as they did.” Other topics discussed included housing and labor markets, antitrust measures, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' criticism of the Biden administration’s tax policy. close
