Government officials and advocates discussed protecting and promoting the rights of LGBTQ people around the world at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. Among the speakers were State Department and USAID officials, who spoke about a recent annual government report--the first of its kind--on efforts to advance LGBTQ rights in the Biden administration’s foreign policy agenda. Some initiatives the officials spoke about included the State Department releasing first-ever passports with “X” gender markers for transgender people and increased efforts to recruit more LGBTQ people in the Peace Corps. close
