“Putin’s attack on Ukraine is an effort to bring Europe back to before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is an effort to break the international rule-based system that we have carefully developed since the second World War,” said Danish Defense Minister Morten Bodskov about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His remarks came during an Atlantic Council event on allied support for Ukraine. Minister Bodskov discussed Denmark’s role in the effort, especially in the Nordic-Baltic regions, and affirmed international alliances, such as the European Union and NATO. At the the time of this event, he was in Washington, D.C., to discuss Ukrainian security assistance with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. At a recent meeting in Copenhagen, allies raised $1.5 billion in long-term aid for Ukraine. close
