“Throughout the history of our great state, Kansans have repeatedly worked across the aisle for a better future,” said Governor Laura Kelly (D-KS) as she delivered her State of the State address from the Capitol in Topeka, Kansas. Governor Kelly focused on a variety of topics including improving rural health care through expanding Medicaid and legalizing marijuana, passing fiscally-sound tax cuts, increasing funding for special education, and solving the fentanyl crisis. The joint session began with lawmakers singing “Happy Birthday” to the governor. close
