NASA announced the four astronauts who will take part in Artemis II, the next phase of the agency’s goal to establish a long-term scientific and human presence on the moon: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and mission specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, who joined the mission from the Canadian Space Agency. The announcement was made via a special broadcast on NASA TV, during which agency officials talked about the research importance of the Artemis II mission, which followed Artemis I, an uncrewed flight test. The four astronauts were expected to fly their first mission -- a trip around the moon -- in late 2024. close
