Steven Dettelbach, director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), said he would support an assault weapons ban but stressed it is Congress' role to do so if they choose. The director joined the Washington Post for a discussion on gun violence and illegal firearms in the U.S. This conversation followed the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, where three children and three adults were killed. close
