The Freedom Forum presented its annual Free Expression Awards, honoring achievements of First Amendment heroes for their courageous acts and contributions to free expression. Honorees included the Brooklyn Public Library, Russian Opposition Leader Alexey Navalny, Evan Gershkovich, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, who was seized in Russia on March 2 on charges of spying, and Austin Tice, a Washington Post contributor and freelance journalist who was detained while reporting on the Syrian civil war. Participants include Leonid Volkov, Chief of Staff for Alexey Navalny, Paul Beckett, Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief and Sally Buzbee, Washington Post executive editor. Moderator is Joie Chen, former CBS correspondent and CNN anchor. close
