The senior director and deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center spoke with Anna Gawel, managing director of Devex, about several of the findings of the 2023 Freedom and Prosperity Indexes. They touched on the relationship between freedom and prosperity, saying the freer a nation is, the more prosperous it will be. In their findings, they determined that though North America and Europe are the freest regions in the world, global prosperity has experienced a decline due in large part to the COVID-19 pandemic. They also addressed China and Russia, the growth in Sub-Saharan Africa, and women’s economic freedom around the world. close
