Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) discussed climate change and other topics with the Washington Post. Sen. Merkley, who chairs an appropriations subcommittee on the environment, said climate change is “the biggest threat that humanity has ever faced,” and criticized the Biden administration’s approach to the problem, saying it was approving too many fossil fuel projects. Additionally, he expressed concerns with the Transportation Security Administration using facial recognition technology, citing fears of the government creating a “surveillance state.” Finally, he weighed in on ongoing debates pertaining to the Senate filibuster and age limits for senators. close
