First lady and educator Jill Biden along with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas delivered remarks on the importance of cybersecurity for the nation’s public schools as students begin heading back to the classrooms after summer break. The White House held a cyber summit to help K-12 schools prepare for the year. The summit occurred after the Los Angeles school district suffered a cyber attack in 2022. The district’s superintendent Alberto Carvalho was among the speakers who participated in a discussion with other federal officials to talk about the coordinated response and lessons learned from the attack. close
