Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said the displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza is an effort to “liquidate the Palestinian cause” and that it is “completely unacceptable” to allow that to happen. The foreign minister was in conversation with Vivian Salama from the Wall Street Journal for a discussion hosted by the Atlantic Council on the Israel-Hamas war and the challenges it presents in the Middle East. Several topics were addressed, including Egypt’s support for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, Iran’s perceived complicity in the conflict, the need for a ceasefire, humanitarian concerns, and challenges with the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Also discussed was the United States' support for Israel and its standing among Arab nations. close
