A panel of international journalists met to discuss America’s search for a new world role. This panel was part of the University of Tulsa’s presidential lecture series. Mr. Hoge led the panel and spoke of President Clinton’s efforts to get peace talks in the Middle East, the unpredictable status since the end of the Cold War, the huge number of new goals and challenges for the U.S for the future in Foreign affairs including the global allocation of resources and trade. Gary Lee agreed on maintaining relations with Russia and Japan and spoke for better international peacekeeping. Geoffrey Smith asked on whether there will be an overriding theme for policy in the post Cold War era and if there will be a narrow or broad definition of national interest. Questions were then asked by the audience. close
