House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) briefed reporters on the failed impeachment vote against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and on a second vote for foreign aid. “On impeachment, last night was a setback, but democracy is messy,” he said. He then stated, “we will pass those articles of impeachment. We’ll do it on the next round.” Speaker Johnson also addressed the Senate potentially passing a bill for foreign aid to Israel and Ukraine, saying, “we’ll see what the Senate does. We spend a lot of time on the House side awaiting the Senate’s action--and it’s frustrating sometimes--but that’s the way the process plays out.” close
