“To all those impacted, I am deeply, deeply sorry,” said UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty of the impact of a cyberattack on one of its companies, Change Healthcare, in February 2024. Mr. Witty’s apology came as he testified during a public hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. UnitedHealth Group is the largest health care insurance company in the U.S., and one of the largest companies in the world. He spoke on the lessons learned and cooperation with federal officials, as well as steps taken to improve cybersecurity and the help offered to the patients, providers, and organizations impacted by the cyberattack. close
