Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) reintroduced the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act during a news conference from Capitol Hill. If passed, the legislation would end the federal government’s restriction on cannabis and allow for states to create and enforce their own cannabis laws. The legislation reintroduction comes on the heels of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) recent announcement of its intent to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I drug to a less dangerous Schedule III drug. close
