This special program includes a variety ofpeople involved in the elections in South Africa. Mr. Mandela spoke at a rally in Umlazi concerning many issues icluding the violence between the ANC and the Zulu party and many other problems in rural areas. Mr. Zuma answered questions from a reporter covering the ANC platform and how they would govern if elected. The C-SPAN crew visited with workers from the Johannesburg inner-city voter education program which is trying to help the many uneducated people to understand the election process. They interviewed the program director, Linda Myeza. Mr. Viljoen campaigned at a luncheon and then later spoke to university students from the Free Orange University in Bloenfontein about the Afrikaner role in the new multi-racial government and the future of the Afrikaner people and the nation as a whole. Judge Kriegle discussed how the Independent Electoral Commission would attempt to ensure free and fair elections. Ambassador Lyman examined the reasons why the free elections are important to the United States and its relations to South Africa. close
