Mr. Quayle spoke about politics and events in the news. This was his first speech since he was hospitalized this month to have an appendectomy. The former vice president plans to visit more than 20 states in the coming weeks, and is rumored to enter the 1996 presidential race by early spring. He spoke on the Republican congressional victory in 1994, private medicine, the national debt, proposing a flat tax, welfare reform, legal reform, supporting a better defense and term limits for Congress. close
