Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Lightman talked about the morning headlines including the presidential campaigns. In the next segment, Ms. Bird talked about the history and purpose of the Air Force. In the newspaper roundtable, Col. Gaskin and Mr. Isaacs talked about current issues including defense spending. In the next segment, Mr. Springer talked about the plans for an Air Force memorial in Washington D.C. After a short segment of open phones, Mr. Pike talked about different programs and aircraft in the Air Force. In the final segment, Major Gen. Engel talked by remote connection about Edwards Air Force Base and its Flight Test Center. close
