Mr. Cuomo talked about politics in the judiciary and began his remarks by telling a story about his immigrant mother’s perceptions of the difference between politicians and judges which was the difference between dishonesty and honesty respectively. He then talked about how the public’s perception of judges has changed in recent years and television’s role in this change. Mr. Cuomo said that the judicial system is being “mocked and ridiculed” by politicians who are out for their own gain and he pointed out that a group of House members had begun impeachment proceedings against judges with whom they disagreed. Mr. Cuomo urged that citizens believe in the law and not allow it to be torn down by a political system that relies on the latest urge of the people as reported by polls. close
