Senator Wendell Ford (D-Kentucky, ranking member on the Senate Rules Committee, and Senator Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) talked with reporters about the committee’s unanimous vote to end the eleven-month investigation into the contested 1996 election of Senator Landrieu. Senator Ford pointed out that Senator Landrieu was never accused of wrongdoing. Senator Landrieu thanked all those who supported her and asked that a procedure be devised for handling allegations of election fraud. They took questions from the press. close
